As you may or may not know, I'm running in the Georgetown Super Sprint Triathlon on Sunday. It's a super sprint because all the distances are pretty short. The swim is 200m, the bike is 7 miles and the run is just 2 miles. I figure it's a good way to break into the tri season.
I really had no idea how much time to put down for my swim time. I've one swam once since last July. I put down 4:00 and I hope I'm not getting passed over by a billion people. The swim is pretty complicated. Here's the map.
I think I can handle it. What I couldn't handle was packet pick-up today. Oy vey! There were two guys running the whole thing (along with a 4 year old) and none of them knew what they were doing. I tend to not have patience for this type of thing. In the grand scheme of things I realize it is no big deal, but seriously this isn't rocket science.
Surprisingly this is a USAT sanctioned event so we had to have our membership cards ready. Kelley, she's always ready!
Even with the confusion and over complication of the process we were able to get our bibs and I'm happy with my EVEN bib number (I have superstitions about bib numbers). I'll be racing as #1432.
Hopefully the event goes off without a hitch and Kelley doesn't have to swim over top of me. If so, I'll give her the thumbs up to pass. It should look something like this.
Clearly we have too much time on our hands. Perhaps we should be training! See you out there Georgetown!
