I kept my long runs on the weekends to 10 miles until my training plan called for more. My first "long" long run of marathon training was on July 29th. Y'all might forget, but I was training with a whole other group of people, sweating my butt off in Texas.
On August 11th I did my last long run in Texas. It was 16 miles and it was uneventful, but sad because marathon training in Texas had ended and I said goodbye to a lot of special people in my life.
I was able to pick right up in Pittsburgh, however, with my first long run in Pittsburgh-- 18 miles.
Even though I had moved 1400 miles across the country, my marathon training didn't miss a beat. Tracey is an awesome friend and introduced me to all her running buddies. Between them and all my other friends, I never felt a shortage of support.
I'm so thankful that I had people in both Texas and Pennsylvania to support me through my marathon training.
5 months have passed since the beginning and it does seem like a long time coming, but I think as I begin my marathon taper, I am ready. I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you to everyone for the tremendous amount of support you have given me. Whether you've run with me or not. Whether you're my friend in real life, you're my family, you're my husband, you commented on my blog, you made a comment of Facebook, or Twitter or Dailymile, it has ALL meant something to me.
Although my legs are what will ultimately what carry me 26.2 miles, it is your support, your words of encouragement and your faith in me that will give me the hope to get through the miles when they get tough (and they will). I did not arrive at this place alone and I'll take each and every one of you with me during the race.
Thank you to EVERYONE for your love and support.
