I have been so productive today. I've done 7 loads of laundry, baked over 2 dozen sugar cookies for Jack's Valentine's party at school, baked 2 dozen chocolate chip cookies because Jack "needed" them, helped Nicholas make his Valentine's box for school, and helped Ella make 18 iPods for her Valentine for school. Last but not least, I made teacher gifts. I don't know why I even bother giving teacher gifts at every little holiday. I guess it's just a little gesture to show I care about my children's teachers taking care of them, but I don't know if they really care. Teachers out there... do you care?
Anyway, this is an easy treat and doesn't take much time or effort. Anyone can do it and it turns out super cute. Of course, I thought I should share what I made. I give you Valentine's Chex Mix with white/pink candy coating and M&Ms.
- 6 cups Rice Chex
- 1 bag candy melts or 1 bag white chocolate chips (I used half of each to make pink and white)
- M&M candies (a couple of handfuls per 3 cups)
- Sprinkles (optional)
First take your candle melts and melt them as you see fit. I used the microwave, starting at 30 seconds and adding 30 seconds more until the candy melts were completely melted.
Next I poured the candy melt over my Chex and M&Ms (remember I am using both candy melt and the white chocolate chips so I divided all my ingredients in half).
Remove from the fridge and gently break apart.
Put in a cute Valentine container and there you have it.
I put mine in clear cellophane treat bags and added a cute tag.
I hope the teachers like their Valentine treat. It is really yummy. I know I'd like if someone made this for me.
