So we're gonna talk bikes for a minute. You can read all about how I bought Pink in this post. Truth is, I really love Pink. She's been good to me and she's all I had in my ditch when I crashed her. So yeah, I'm pretty sentimental about her, but it was/is time to let her go.
After George bought his bike, I REALLY saw the difference having a good bike could make. There's a reason the pros have $15,000 bikes The more money you put into your bike the better performance you are going to get. While I didn't get a $15,000 bike, I did upgrade BIG TIME.
I'd like to introduce to you Ms. T. (thanks for the name Kelley). And yes you have to say it like Mr. T. only Ms. T. She deserves this name because she's pretty bad ass.
Ms. T. is a Trek Domane 5.2 WSD (just in case you wondered) and I took her out for my inaugural ride last evening. On a route that I would normally average just under 14 mph, I averaged 16 mph. That is HUGE and I'm so excited about riding it in the future. And, and, and now she can snuggle up next to George's Madone. Pinkie was so sick of being snubbed on the bottom bunk.
Anyway getting this bike will hopefully help save my legs, and not a moment to soon. This weekend I'll be riding over 150 miles for MS in the MS Escape to the Lake. I am severely undertrained and a little nervous about the ride, but I'm sticking with the philosophy of doing the best I can. That's all I can do.
Thank you so much to everyone who supported me either with a donation or with your encouragement. Both mean so much to me.
I'll see you on the other side of this thing. Wish me luck.
