The Tirches are at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, TX enjoying winter break from school. (Just FYI Great Wolf Lodge has several locations across the country, not just in Texas).
In case you're not familiar with Great Wolf Lodge, it is an indoor water park filled with family fun. Here is their website's take on what they have to offer.
Your Great Wolf Lodge adventure begins in our massive, 84-degree indoor water park. Splash the day away in over 80,000 square feet of water-packed excitement, including jaw-dropping slides for thrill seekers or zero-depth entry areas for little ones. Outside the water park, the fun continues. Grab a wand and battle a dragon in MagiQuest or get an ice cream-themed manicure in Scooops Kid Spa before gathering your family in our Grand Lobby for nightly fireside Story Time, the perfect ending to a Great Wolf day.
We piled into the family truckster this morning and the excitement was palpable-- these kids were pumped.
The car ride consisted of movies, iPods, and countless "are we there yets", but we finally arrived at the doors to Great Wolf Lodge.
We walked through the doors and were checked into our room (3 hours early) in less then 3 minutes. That is no lie. The service was quick, friendly and efficient.
We chose the "Kid Cabin" room.
Our room consists of a "log cabin" for the kids, including a bunk bed and a day bed. How cool is that? They kids were over the moon excited about it. Sleeping in bunk beds in a log cabin? Yes please!
We also have a double bed and a double sofa sleeper (George's bed).
Of course it's not all about the room, it's about the fun and a LOT of fun was had.
We spent about three hours this afternoon in the wave pool, on the water slides, shooting water, jumping in water, and much more, including the HOT TUB! If our bellies hadn't been grumbling, we'd probably have spent longer enjoying the water today. Instead, we got dressed and headed out to dinner and to Walmart for some needed supplies.
The kids are incredibly exhausted from just a half day's fun. I can't imagine what they'll be like at the end of the day tomorrow.
Great Wolf has a LOT more to offer than just a water park too. There are a LOT of fun things to do including a live action adventure game (think treasure hunt), a spa for kids, a place to "build a bear" and design your own Crocs. Kids could NEVER be bored here and I'm sure mine won't be tomorrow.
Until then, I'm going to have trouble not thinking about this...
