Have you heard of the Portable North Pole? If you haven't you need to go check it out, STAT! The Portable North Pole is a way to send your loved one a special video message from Santa Claus himself. You create the video by giving a few little details about the recipient and you can upload pictures too.
I've used the videos for 3 or so years now and it is ALWAYS so much fun to watch the kids' faces as they watch to videos to find out if they've been naughty or nice.
You're able to add your child's name, their age, and the grade they are in (if they go to school, or preschool, daycare, etc.).
You can also add one or two more photos associated with special events that happened during the year. I used the kids' birthdays as well as their sports pictures. They were amazed that Santa could see them doing all that!
You can then choose to tell you child that Santa knows they've been wanting that one special item. You can skip this part if you'd like to keep your gift a secret. I always put it in because I think it adds to the kids wanting it that much more and then Santa (i.e. me) is a hero.
Finally, Santa uses his special machine to find out if you have, in fact, been naughty or nice. Nicholas sat there staring at the screen pretty confident that he'd be on the nice list. Still he had a little fear hidden in there somewhere. . Jack, he just knew he'd be on the nice list, yet he's the one most likely to have not been! Ella was a wreck. She sat there wringing her hands just waiting. Turns out...
... she was on the nice list! I guess she'll be receiving that American Girl doll.
You can make the videos for children or adults and I'm sure it would be a little fun to put George on the naughty list, so I might just have to do it.
Take the time (less than 10 minutes) and make the video for your kids. You won't regret it, especially for the really little ones. The first time they see it, they will be amazed. It just adds to the amazement and joy of the season. At least it did for me and my kids. Win Win!
