Sometimes I think I should have named by blog something else, cause let's face it, there ain't a whole lot of swimmin' and bikin' up in here. But, if I'm being honest, I really love Triathlon and I'm not sure why I don't swim and bike as much as I should. In fact, just yesterday a few friends and I were talking about which we preferred, swimming, running or biking and I mentioned that biking might be a little pinch up in my book.
It sure does take me a long time to get to the point doesn't it? Well the point is, I'm definitely going to get some other events on the books other than just running. I've been meaning to do it for awhile and then a few things happened.
First, George sent me an email yesterday with a list of all the upcoming biking events in the Austin area. We've been talking about doing an event together and he wanted me to choose one. So today I browsed the list and came up with the Texas 4000 Atlas Ride. This ride starts in Cedar Park (less than a mile from my house) and ends 50 to 70 miles later (depending on the route we choose) in Lampasas, TX. I'm leaning toward the 50 miler, but haven't ruled out the 70 yet. The good thing is, George and I are going to ride and do this TOGETHER!
Then a little birdie (her name's Kelley) Facebooked me about an upcoming Tri and asked if I wanted to do it. So that little birdie and I will be doing a little Triathlon.
The CapTexTri to be exact. I'll be doing the sprint distance (wanted to do the Olympic but just don't think I'll be ready). The sprint is a 750M swim, 20K (12 mile) bike and 5K (3.1 mile) run. I think this will be a great way to kick of the Triathlon season as there are a few more I really want to do (sprints) and I'll be looking for that Olympic distance sometime in the near future when the right race presents itself.
So there you have it. Two events. Neither a stand alone run. Get excited. There's finally going to be some swimming, biking and running goin' on!
P.S. Uh yeah just realized the Tri is on 5/28 and the Ride on 6/2. Oh dear!
