Well, the best part of our "staycation" has arrived. The Buchas.
Everyone say hello to the lovely Jennifer (my BFF from pharmacy school) and her equally as lovely husband Steve.
It didn't take long to break them in. We greeted them at the airport and immediately took them to The Salt Lick. They promptly learned what real Texas BBQ is all about and I don't think they were disappointed.
We arrived at The Salt Lick kind of early (by 5:30) so there wasn't a wait. We were able to sit right down at a table and get served. Jack immediately took to talking Jen's ear off and was "all up in" her space the whole evening.
Even though getting seated right away was nice, (I was starving) it kind of takes away from the whole experience. Part of enjoying The Salt Lick is enjoying the atmosphere. So after dinner we sat out and listened to the music and had a few beers under the trees and twinkle lights.
It was nice to sit out in the gorgeous weather and just sip a beverage and catch up .
The kids enjoyed listening to the music too and were in good spirits the whole time.
Perhaps it had something to do with their meditation session. I swear, I don't know where they come up with this stuff.
Before we knew it, it was 8:00 (that's late by my mother of three standards) so we had to pack up and head home.
Jen and I spent the rest of the evening lying on the bed just taking. That's one thing about "old" friends, you can talk for hours.
I'm looking forward to spending the rest of our Staycation with the Buchas. Check back in as we initiate Steve and Jen into "Eat Your Way Through Austin".
