Today I invited all my running girls over to do a loop leaving from my house (just over 9 miles) and returning for a little brunch. I planned to do 3 miles and head back home to get all the food ready. Barb and Michelle did the full 9 mile loop.
A little scary of me |
Tracey, Charlene, and Lisa started from Tracey's house, adding on 3 miles for a total of 12 (both Charlene's and Lisa's longest run to date).
I did 4 workouts this week including 2 CrossFit workouts. Of course, my legs were sore. The thing is, my legs feel great on a flat, but those are few and far between around here. I REALLY struggle up the hills.
I immediately fell behind the other girls, but Lisa and Charlene kept with me. I accidentally left my Garmin in bike mode, which was actually a good thing because calculating pace while running isn't my strong suit.
I just tried to run as hard as I could, but I'll admit there were plenty of times I just wanted to give up or walk . George was coming to pick me up a half hour after I left and I swear he didn't come soon enough. I got in exactly 3.00 miles and George's car gloriously appeared.
I hopped in and waved goodbye to the girls.
And headed back home to prepare the food.
Mile 1: 10:47
Mile 2: 10:11 (Woo hoo that seems so speedy now. Lots of downhill.)
Mile 3: 10:46
Total: 31:51
Average: 10:37
I love, love, love entertaining at my house, but I don't do it as often as I would like. I love seeing people happy and feeding them food. So I promised the girls a yummy brunch with mimosas.
I hope I didn't disappoint.
We had croissants, muffins, donuts, fruit, peach french toast casserole, cheesy potatoes....
Eggs (with cheese and mushrooms), bacon and ham. I think I may have overdone it a little, but when do I not? The reason I like hosting brunch, however, is because it's so easy. It looks like a lot of effort, but it's simple.
We hung out talking for over two hours. The time flew by and I really enjoyed having all the girls over. I wish we could make this a weekly event, but maybe we'll just have to settle for quarterly. Girls, what say you?
The winner of the Shabby Apple Giveaway was Kim. Hall. Kim said she'd buy the, "Bali Ha'i In Purple! Love It!" Congrats Kim!!! Please email me your full mailing address to momswimbikerun@gmail.com to claim your prize!
