My butt and hamstrings are really still very sore. I wish I could explain it exactly but the biggest amount of pain is right under my butt cheeks right where your bone is. It extends down to the hamstrings and is also very painful on the hip bones. So yeah, it's just on big pain in the butt (literally).
I'm perplexed by the whole situation honestly. I really thought my legs were just extremely fatigued due to overuse. I was training for the marathon and a newbie to CrossFit. Then when the marathon was over, I didn't exactly rest. I continued working out 6 days a week.
I thought taking a significant amount of time off from working out would allow my legs to rest and recover and I would wake up feeling good as new at the end of the two week period. Actually, at first I intended to rest for just one week, but then increased it to two. Nope, it didn't work! Maybe I need more time?
So yeah, my legs and butt are broken. That's what I've decided. I've been foam rolling and stretching, but I'll be honest, I've slacked off a bit since I've been so busy around the house. So I definitely need to get back to that. I did try to go to the gym today and do the elliptical, but it was painful so I just got off and rolled and stretched.
So I FINALLY decided I'd go for a consult with a Physical Therapist. It's a free 15 minute consult with the PT at my gym. It can't hurt. I'd just like an expert opinion with how I should move forward. Stretching does NOT seem to be helping, however, so maybe I just need to suck it up and go to the Sports Medicine doctor.
All I really know for sure is I'm completely 100% frustrated. I rather have a broken bone (not really) and know it takes 6 weeks to heal and then you can get back in the game, than to just not know what's going on. It just doesn't seem logical to me that my legs would not feel even the SLIGHTEST bit better after 2 weeks rest. It just doesn't make sense.
I know everyone is thinking I should just go to the doctor, but I'm not one to rush into that kind of thing. I just figure he is more than likely going to tell me to rest because I honestly don't think there is anything seriously wrong. I'd be concerned if the pain weren't on both sides, but being as it's both legs it seems less likely to be an injury. What do I know? I do know I'd feel better just KNOWING and not trying to guess.
This blog post has no point really, but at least you know why you haven't seen me posting workouts besides PLANKING!! (There's still time to enter the contest. Click this link for all the details).
Today I did do something. I did upper body stuff at the gym. I tried to work on the kipping pull up. I have a long, long, looooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go. It's just so hard y'all.
Ready...
Start to swing...
and pull up the knees...
I know I need to widen my grip, so that's one change to do already. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos today and I'll be working with my pull up bar at home. I have one of those ones that goes on the door jam. Let's hope I don't tear the house down.
