As I planned out my workouts for the week, Tracey and I planned to do an "easyish" ride on Thursday (today). Easy meaning not a lot of hills. Nothing that would challenge us too, too much. As I looked at the weather for the week, Thursday seemed like it would be the PERFECT day for riding. It was!
There wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was in the upper 50s. Tracey and I both wore shorts, a jersey and our arms sleeves. I felt perfect the whole time. Not too hot, not too cold. The only thing that would have made it better would have been no wind. Because who likes a headwind when you're riding? No one!
The loops (5 miles each) went by pretty quickly and I was thinking how nice it is to be riding with Tracey again. We chatted the whole way. It was a nice way to get the miles in and have some company. Kind of like running, but without all my leg pain.
Tracey asked me during the ride if my legs hurt while I ride and the answer is no. They definitely do NOT hold me back or make me go slower. My hips were a little sore while riding, but nothing hurt so bad to hold me back (like my legs do when I run). Having said that my legs are a particularly sore this afternoon. I'm planning on resting the next two days in hopes of really fresh, ready-to-go legs for Sunday's half.
Tracey and I completed 20.01 miles in 1:22. That's an average of 14.5 mph. I'm never going to be a speed demon on my bike (just like I'm not running). Anything over 13 mph makes me happy. 2nd ride this season. Riding 160 miles over 2 days in June. My training is complete right? What? NO? Ok. I'll keep Riding then..... just as soon as this half marathon is over.
