I've mentioned a couple of times now that I had a bunch of family in town to celebrate the kids' birthdays. I tried to keep it really low key. Each of my kids has their own friend birthday parties, but I wanted to invite my family to help celebrate too. Really it's just a reason to get all my family together. By the time it was all said and done I had 17 people sleeping in my house on Saturday and Sunday night. It was SO fun to hang out and be with my family. I'm so glad I decided to go ahead with the Birthday Bash!
Of course before the birthday bash even began, Jack was worried about when he could open his presents. He must have asked 1,000,000 times. When he finally got his chance he was beyond excited.
I sat and read all his cards to him and if I'd open one and there was a check inside he'd swipe it out and turn it over so quickly. It was too funny, but rude of course.
Jack has basically been making a birthday list all summer. We were shopping at Dick's one day and Jack kept telling me a million things he wanted and asking me to buy them for him. After becoming totally frustrated, I pulled out my phone and started typing up a list of all the things he said he wanted. I told him when someone asks him what he wants for his birthday, I'll whip out my list.
On his list was a pair of Under Armour sunglasses. I told him in no uncertain terms that I would NOT be buying him those sunglasses. What six year old needs $$$$$ sunglasses. Furthermore, George went on to tell him he wasn't to ask for the glasses.
When his Aunt Mimi asked him what he wanted for his birthday he somehow managed to mention the forbidden sunglasses. He said he wasn't allowed to ask for what he wanted and Mimi made him tell. Guess what happened?
Jack got the sunglasses!
While opening cards, Jack got several iTunes cards (which is a GREAT gift for my kids. They love buying music and games). Anyway, after opening all the cards Jack blurts out, "I wonder why I got so much iTunes cards?" I was so embarrassed. I gently grabbed him in and whispered in his ear that what he was saying wasn't appropriate and he said he was just wondering. I just can never get mad at him (ok not very often anyway).
Jack makes me laugh every day. He even makes birthday presents complicated.
Ella on the other hand, her list was simple.
She basically asked for clothes. She got a couple of great outfits.
And several Justice gift cards (as well as iTunes of course). She didn't say anything inappropriate or refuse to put pictures in her Ella frame.
By the way, I'd like to note that I specifically wrote on the invite to the party for everyone NOT to bring presents. You see how well my family listens!
He really liked his picture frame, but said there would never be enough pictures to fill it up and asked why I had to name him such a long name.
By the way Nicholas got a Dick's gift card and guess what he bought with it already? You guessed it! now I have two spoiled kids with expensive sunglasses. Ugh!
No party would be complete without the cake and cake there was. A LARGE one!
We sang.
The wished!
They blew!
Happy Birthday Tirch kids, your whole family loves you!
Thanks to all my family for traveling from near and far to help celebrate my kids' special day. We appreciate it so much and I really did have a great time!
