My Dearest Jack:
Where do I begin. You are my BABY! One day you'll probably find it annoying that I say that, but for now you're still content to be mama's baby. In fact, you'll snuggle with me and let me kiss you any time I want. You give the absolute best hugs. I ask you for huggie lovies and you'll grab a hold of my neck and hang on tight giving me a huge hug and then lots of kisses. It's one of the best feelings ever.
You make me smile and laugh every single day. Often times you're not meaning to make me laugh, but the things you say are just too funny. Pretty much it's your world and everyone else is just living in it and you just don't see it any other way. You want what you want, when you want it and often times that's yesterday. What can I say, you come by it honestly. You are just like me!
As much as you are like me, you also have so much "redneck" in you, you must have some of your father in you too. You like all things outdoors. You like hunting and fishing and all the crazy hunting shows on TV. Rattlesnake republic is your favorite right now.
Another reason it's so hard to watch you grow up is because you seem old beyond your years. With an older brother and sister, you are constantly exposed to new things and soaking it all in like a sponge. You learn things sooner and seem to be so much further along than Nicholas and Ella were at this age. I suppose that is good in some ways, but bad in others. I wish I could keep you little forever.
You love sports too. You love to play them and you especially love hockey, The thing I love is that you love all the gear. You want the jersey, you want the latest shirt, you want the hat. You want it all, so that you can be decked all out.
One of the things I love most about you is that you beat to your own drum. You don't seem to care much what people think about you. You like what you like and you like it. Period. So if that means wearing Sponge Bob sweat bands every day of your life (yes you did that) are wearing your new goggle even when you're not in the pool, well then you'll do it.... AND YOU DON'T CARE what anyone thinks about it.
You're often timid when trying new things, but you'll eventually conquer your fears and try things. Often times you'll fake a smile, but at least you will try new things when they scare you.
You're so smart it's scary sometimes. Not 2 + 2 = 4 smart (you're that too), but just so observant and tuned in to what's going on around you. You don't miss a thing and you pay attention to details. If someone should happen to make a mistake about said details, you are quick to point it out. You really don't let anyone just slide or get away with anything.
As much of a "character" as you are, you are a really good boy. You like to please and it makes you happy when you make mommy and daddy happy. You aren't bad or mean spirited, you're just a guy living in your world and you wantt everyone to go along with you.
But man you have a smile that will melt anyone's heart. Your smile melts mine, that is for sure. Even if I'm "mad" at you, all you have to do is flash that smile or giggle and I can't stay mad long. No one can, which is why you get away with so much. That and you're the "baby". Sometimes it pays to be the youngest.
I love the gleam you get in your eye when you love something. Your whole face lights up and you pour yourself into whatever it is.
Your life is always fun and you're rarely in a bad mood or crying. You're just pretty much happy-go-lucky.
I picture you getting older and for some reason I feel like you'll always love your mama. I feel like you'll be the one that stops over with a large bag of laundry for me to do, but you'll really be there because you know it makes me happy.
I won't mind doing your laundry or cooking you a home cooked meal if it means having some time with my Bear. You will always be my bear, no matter how big you get.
Always remember that mommy's the one that wanted you!!!!
I love you. All of you. Everything about you, and I wouldn't change a thing.
Love,
Mommy
