So today.... yeah not a whole lot to blog about. I skipped Body Pump because I was, none other than, lazy! I started to beat myself up about it, but then realized I've been working out almost 5 days a week for 4 years and if I want to skip part of a workout, I shouldn't be so hard on myself.
Nonetheless, I am on operation run fast with less lard, so I had to get out there and do something so... well let's face it folks... so I can eat! My training plan called for strength training and 3 miles, so I set out for 3 miles.
I was all alone. This has been happening to me a little more lately. I'm honestly ok with it on shorter runs because I can run faster when I'm not being chatty. Still, I rather be with my friends, but if I have to run alone I'm generally ok with it.
I'm getting nervous about the goals I've set for myself for the Pittsburgh Half, I just haven't been able to run easily at a faster pace. Today I felt great with my breathing, but my legs felt like lead. This has been the case a LOT lately and while I would expect that if I were running high mileage weeks, I'm generally running just 20 to 25 miles a week.
Anyway, here's how today's run looked:
Mile 1: 9:39
Mile 2: 9:51
Mile 3: 9:41
Total: 29:16:41
Average: 9:43
I can't imagine having to run this pace for a WHOLE half marathon. I've done it once before. Right now it seems impossible. Don't you worry, I'm not giving up on myself. I'm devising a plan to make sure I meet my goals. This includes eating well, drinking plenty of fluids and getting plenty of rest. I have to do this.
After all, no one is going to get me across the finish line, I can only do it myself.
