I'm still catching up from the weekend with my posts and I believe I'm up to Saturday. Saturday was a busy, busy day. I got up early and was out the door and running by 6:00 am. I wanted to do 10 miles, but was only able to fit in 8 before I had to be home for Ella's soccer game. We headed directly from soccer to Nicholas' baseball game. By the time that was all said and done, we ate lunch and then got home around 1:00. I had to make food to go to a neighborhood Easter egg hunt and start the food prep for Easter "dinner".
I got everything done in time and we managed to make it to the party one time. One of my neighbors (who has teenage kids) planned the Easter egg hunt for all the little kids on our street (and it's a lot).
Each kid was given a sticker with a particular theme (Nicholas' was transformers, Ella's ice cream, and Jack's Scooby Doo). When it came time to hunt they were only allowed to pick up eggs (and other toy items) that had their particular sticker on it.
I can not even begin to tell you what an AWESOME idea that is. It made the atmosphere much more relaxed as no one felt pressure to get as many eggs as they could right away.
The kids were able to mill about and pick up their eggs at their own pace. The were also allowed to pick up to 12 non-stickered eggs or items (misc toys).
This was the most well organized egg hunt of my life. Four stars to my neighbor Laura (Hi Laura if you're reading). Take notes people!
There were also two bouncy houses and lots of food to enjoy. The kids had a REALLY great time and I hope it's something she'll continue to do for the kids (she did it last year too).
Unfortunately, we had to leave after only two hours of fun because we had a babysitter coming to go out and enjoy drinks with Julie for her birthday. I planned this night out over a month ago and I had been looking forward to it for a LONG time. Since I knew a late evening was probably in store, I got the kids' Easter baskets ready ahead of time.
Jack's was Transformers.
Ella's was Muppets.
Nicholas' was baseball.
Um yeah, I'm glad I made these ahead of time because a ridiculous night ensued. Let's just say a good time was had by all.
Some more than others.
I'll let you decide who.
